Engraving |
Engraved jewels are unique and special; their value is higher by definition. The engraving of jewelry, from rings to bracelets, to necklaces, requires a special technique that only an experienced and skilled goldsmith artisan can performs. It is necessary for this purpose the right materials and the use of special working methods so as to reach the result without damaging the material on which you work. You can choose between 3 types of engraving: MANUAL, with PANTOGRAPH e with LASER. MANUAL ENGRAVING It is an ancient technique that is used today to adorn and decorate the surface of articles designed by the goldsmith: first of all you decide to follow a pattern piece, then transfer it on the jewel engraving the metal with precision. Clearly the shape and lines of the design in question will depend on the types of irons chosen to do the job. In this case the instruments used most often are the chisel and burin. The chisel is a real small instrument through which you can affect all the precious metals. The forms of these instruments are varied and depend on the specifically use the artist has to do. Chisels can be smooth, rounded head, or more pointed. Before starting work, the jewel is placed in a holder as pitch, so that the metal is not going to deform or puncture. The graver is made of a steel bar whose tip must always be extremely sharp-edged and it is sharpened all the time. The artisan uses the burin exerting slight movements often rotator clockwise and counterclockwise, in this way the graver will remove a portion of material from the metal, affecting it. The residual residual, that is the residue of the metal, will not be thrown away, but melted down and reused.PANTOGRAPH ENGRAVING The flat type is generally composed of a single multi joints arm on which it is located, roughly at the center, a support bearing the diamond tip that performs the engraving, at the fixed extremity there are one of the three graduated scales and at the free extremity is located the "copier". Next to the copier is set up a plan on which the tracks are fixed with terminals; in this tracks you scroll through the characters that have to be copied on the piece to engrave. Having decided the reduction scale (typically from 2 to 7 times) and correctly placed the piece in the central grip present under the diamond point, you pressed on this so that, moved by the arm connected to the copier held by the operator following the characters in the tracks, it will leave a trace on the metal.
LASER ENGRAVING The laser engraving has become indispensable if you want to customize a ring or any other object with a logo, a drawing or just a name. You can choose between light and dark engraving of a subject, or more pronounced and deep incision, very similar to that of a burin. Obviously, in this case, the use of computers will consent an absolute accuracy.

The pantograph for wedding rings is, as the flat type, a mobile arm, this time vertically and not graduated, equipped with a diamond, and ending with the traditional copier. At the height of the diamond point, next to the central disc, is placed the ring squeezed between the three lateral clamps. When with the copier we will be positioned on the character to affect, it will be activated a lever that you will press the inside of the ring against the diamond point. It can affect only one character at a time, then you have to give the necessary space and select the next character. The characters are arranged on interchangeable discs furnished even with numbers and symbols.
